Jazzy "Fats" Fatcat (1995-2005)

My fuzzy little buddy is dead. Someone found him this morning about a quarter of a mile from my house. We think he got hit by a car. Fats was my cat. I loved him. This really sucks. I'm happy I got to hang out with him for the last ten years, but I really would have rathered him not die.

I buried him under the ground, then made this little mound over the grave and covered it in leaves.
Fats:
Woke me every morning at five by pushing open my door and jumping onto my bed
Took a bath inches from my head as I tried to go back to sleep
Preceded to sleep in my bed the rest of the day while I had to be awake
I miss you, my Fat Fuzzy Little Buddy

From Neutral Milk Hotel's "In the Aeroplane Over the Sea", because I know he loved this song:

What a beautiful face
I have found in this place
That is circling all round the sun
What a beautiful dream
That could flash on the screen
In a blink of an eye and be gone from me
Soft and sweet
Let me hold it close and keep it here with me

And one day we will die
And our ashes will fly from the aeroplane over the sea
But for now we are young
Let us lay in the sun
And count every beautiful thing we can see
Love to be
In the arms of all I'm keeping here with me

What a curious sight we have found here tonight
There is laughter that sounds from the trees
There are lights in the clouds
Anna's ghost all around
Hear her voice as it's rolling and ringing through me
Soft and sweet
How the notes all bend and reach above the trees

What a beautiful face
I have found in this place
That is circling all round the sun
And when we meet on a cloud
I'll be laughing out loud
I'll be laughing with everyone I see
Can't believe how strange it is to be anything at all

Sorry to hear about your cat. I'm not a cat person, but Fats sounds like good company. I've only really ever had one cat. But we never told her she was a cat. I called her kitty and that's the only name she knew, but her real name was Nikita. We'd chill on the roof of the house together and say snide things about neighbors in their yards. Maybe Kitty and Fats are living it up in catland.
Jordan: Thanks, man. I'm glad you got to see him one last time. Yeah, this year has been crazy with animal passings. I will miss them all, too. Even Buddy.
E: I had a wonderful waking dream about catland. I know it must be the most beautiful place ever. I think Kitty and Fats are living it up, probably making snide (but good natured) comments about all the other cats. Fats always kicked his legs in his sleep, and I know he was dreaming about running up catland mountain, chasing landtuna, and that is what he is doing right now.
Oh, to the comment below this, I never pegged myself as a Coldplay fan, either. I have actually been adamantly anti-Coldplay, and thought they were boring (though I always thought they seemed like the most polite band I had ever heard of). I guess their new CD hit the right spots at the right times for me, or something. I am digging the Episcopilean thing a lot. I don't know if I am going to convert, but I think I am definately going to keep attending for the time being. Oh, and to hibernation, that sounds friggin brilliant. One of the main reasons I am pysched about school is that it will not start until August, and until then I can read and crawfish. Sweet! You can always come hibernate in the swamp!

What? Are you inviting me to hibernate in your swamp? I don't have a swamp.
My swamp is your swamp :)
