Good Parenting 101

You know you are doing a good job as a parent when you are driving and hear this from your two year old son in his car seat: "I want to listen to music. I want to listen to...Peter Gabriel."
So Peter Gabriel it was.

I would guess I have college students in my classes that wouldn't know who Peter Gabriel is (no joke, an entire class did not know who Val Kilmer is. Seriously? Ice Man, hello?). Pretty funny and cool. I generally like his softly raspy voice as well.

Now if Fox asks for Christina Aguilera... I might have to quibble on the good parenting, however. ;)
Haha! Agreed!
(Also, these kids need to get on Real Genius, stat!)

That's awesome! Gabriel is the man! I wish I could say the same, but my daughters apparent favorite song is 'Dynamite' by Taio Cruz. Didn't get it from me, and I guess I can't knock her since it is one of those "club' dance beats that you can't help but want to get on the dance floor. She can't understand the words to most the music I play for her. But when she was first born she showed lots of interest the song 'Perfectly Good Guitar' by John Hiatt. I still claim that as her song. Haha. My newborn son, I will try a little harder. And yes, he came a month early on April 5th, 2012 and is home doing fine as we speak. Barrett Earl Brown. :)
Dang, Buck, that's awesome! Congratulations! I wondered where you'd been. That is great news. I have a feeling young Barrett's taste in music will be impeccable. And also, metal.

Ya, kids seem to want to be like their parents. That is if they have good parents. So he will get a good dose of music growing up around his old man, that's for sure. Presley will come around too. She is such a girly girl, but I won't let her fall victim to radio sheep slops getting dished out to the majority of folks.

Speaking of Ice Man, we were driving yesterday and saw a group of older men shirtless playing volleyball at a local park and I made reference to the pivotal volleyball tourney scene in Top Gun. they weren't near as attractive as Maverick and company, but it was pretty funny. My wife, not as big of fan as me, and my reference jokes weren't "gotten" right away, which quickly turned the joke on me.

Love it when they taunt them and call out "mother goose!"

"No, no, no. There are two O's in Goose, gentlemen."
