Filmshake Episode 2 -- The Life of Oharu
Check out the second episode of Filmshake, the podcast hosted by Jordan Courtney and myself, where we do "Short takes on great movies," a clever, Courtney-crafted catchphrase Jordan should copyright. This month, we're looking at Kenji Mizoguchi's epic tale of woe, The Life of Oharu, with a few minutes aimed at Wong Kar-Wai's Chungking Express, as well. While I've posted text reviews for both films below, Jordan and I go far more in-depth on Filmshake, all while avoiding spoilers, yet still (thanks to Jordan's editing magic) doing so in the amount of time it takes me to wash the dishes...which is 37 minutes...because I'm a slow washer.
We also go to war against one another in our second trivia battle. Will I dethrone the champ, or will Mr. Courtney again make worms meat out of me? To find out which house receives the plague, check out:
FILMSHAKE EPISODE 2 -- THE LIFE OF OHARU
And if you've seen the film, and wish we would go into some sweet, sweet spoilers, we'll have our bonus, spoiler-filled "2.5" episode for The Life of Oharu up shortly. Our silky-smooth and dulcet voices will be intoning so many spoilers, you'll think you've croaked and gone to spoiler paradise--who died? Who got together and who broke up? Those questions aren't really pertinent past The Life of Oharu's first 20 minutes, but if they were, rest-assured you'd find them there!
Also, big shout-out to both the East Baton Rouge Parish Library and The 25th Frame for their continued support. And finally, if you insist on listening to your podcasts through iTunes, we're on there, as well.
