Filmshake Has the Hardware
I'd never even heard of 1990's sci-fi horror neo-noir cyberpunk film, Hardware, until Jordan Courtney suggested it for our most recent episode of Filmshake: The 90s Movies Podcast. I'm glad he did, as the film is not only entertaining, fun, and well-made, but shockingly prescient, predicting the heavy nihilistic threads that run through our culture 35 years later. I haven't given an anti-nihilistic philosphical monologue during the show since I had a stroke in January, but this is as close as I've come, as I start making the connections to now while we are having our delightful conversation in real-time. We also talk 1990's ridiculous sci-fi for kids giant robot flick, Robot Jox. Yes, Jox. If they get kicked in the robot nuts, are they wearing jox straps? Only on Filmshake.
