The Nicsperiment's 20th Anniversary of Dying; Content Dump

2006 Nicsperiment, you were well-intentioned, but a fool. Also, what are you doing with your tongue? Put that thing away!

20 years ago this month, The Nicsperiment "died." I was entering a highly codependent relationship that lasted 18 of those 20 years, and I rather foolishly decided I couldn't have anything outside of that relationship. The next 18 years was a slow unraveling of that decision, until that relationship no longer existed. Thankfully, The Nicsperiment roared back to life rather early in that 18 year span.
Anyway, I posted a dumb goodbye here 20 years ago this month, and yet here The Nicsperiment is, 20 years later, with over 2,000,000 visits and over 2,000 comments. The Nicsperiment is the number one search result for a number of commonly keyed phrases. I guess the last 20 years, outside of becoming a father, haven't been a complete waste!
With that said, I have just had one of those months where I can't seem to catch a minute, and several posts I've had ideas for have been on the backburner. Hopefully I'll get to them soon, including one crazy idea I've been throwing around in my head for a while now.
First, there are the obligatory reviews of the movies my podcast has covered recently. Then, the crazier stuff. In the more distant future (next year), if I'm still kicking (I don't just mean the blog, I mean me!), I have plans to expand my retro television review coverage. If I'm still kicking... Not a phrase I was throwing around 20 years ago.

Congratulations on 20+ years! The Nicsperiment is a great archive/reference for music reviews. I bought Further Seems Forever's "Hide Nothing" vinyl a couple months ago and enjoyed seeing what you had to say about them. LOL at the comment about their first two vocalists being "man-child" singers 😂

In a Substack age, it's nice that there are still some Blogger sites kicking around. Those stats are killer. Keep up the great work! ✍️
Graham! I hope you are doing well! Thanks for the kind words! I also recently got Hide Nothing on vinyl, along with a Slick Shoes and a Stavescre album. Jon Bunch (R.I.P.) was definitely a man among boys. I feel like Substack is a fad people will tire of just like they did blogging…except for me! The crazy thing is, the last few years have been the biggest by far for this place. There’s been a few recent months where it’s broken 100K views, which might be nothing for some, but is unreal to me!

Doing well here, thanks! Still making music and doing some reading and writing as well, so can't complain much haha.

Sounds like a nice vinyl haul. That Slick Shoes colour variant looks great!

That's awesome to hear about the recent traction. 100K views is bananas!

Thoroughly enjoyed the post about U2's latest work, by the way. Sometimes you've gotta just stick it to the elite lol!
