Review of an Underrated Switch Game Time
I feel bad for Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair. Impossible Lair follows up on the much publicized Yooka-Laylee, which was excitedly kickstarted by fans of Rareware's Nintendo 64 3D platformers...fans like me. Yooka-Laylee was created by Playtonic, a company founded by and composed of many former Rareware employees who worked on those legendary 64-bit games. However, Yooka-Laylee plays like the developers were rusty, and it was released to a lukewarm response, cooling a lot of fan excitement at Playtonic's emergence. Unfortunately, that means that a lot less fans were anticipating Yooka-Laylee's sequel, which arrived fairly quietly last October. Those overlooking Impossible Lair's release are missing out. Playtonic have worked out the kinks, switched genres, and delivered a supremely satisfying side-scrolling platformer. I supremely enjoyed my experience with the game. Here's my review of Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair:
