Two Steps Back
Just a couple days ago I was eating food again. Now...it's back to the feeding
tube. I started coughing on Friday. By Saturday I was coughing nonstop. Unfortunately, that meant that I had
to stop eating because of the threat of pneumonia. It was back to my old,
stomach peg tube that I desperately want to have removed, but that also is
keeping me alive.
An ongoing feature of this stroke recovery is that every time I seem to be making progress, there is a setback to overcome. Then I have to put my head down and grind it out until that setback IS overcome and the progress can continue. It's arduous...but it is life. Hopefully, I am eating again soon. I may have only been able to keep down watered down grits, tomato soup, and fruit cups, but at least it was food that was going into my mouth.
