Bill Cosby plays a single father who puts work over his children. He promises them he just needs to brush them aside a little longer to get a big promotion, but then he dies in a car crash. In Ghost Dad, though, death is not the end. Now, his ghost haunts his family, trying to help them get by. However, it seems his time as a ghost may be limited, and he only has so much time to make sure he leaves things in a good place...
Ghost Dad is an abysmal film. Maybe you think Bill Cosby is a monster because of the accusations levied against him, and you were never going to watch it. Good move. Maybe you are a fan of Bill Cosby's television and standup work, but have decided to stay away from Ghost Dad because you've heard Cosby's movies stink. Good move. Any reason not to watch Ghost Dad, other than becoming a ghost dad yourself, is a good reason. The laughs don't land. The drama doesn't land. Everyone involved, particularly director, Sidney Poitier, should have this film scrubbed off their filmography...or I guess Poitier's children should have their ghost dad scrubbed from Ghost Dad. It's an abomination. It's an embarrassment. It's terrible. It doesn't even have value as a film that is so bad it is good. It is so bad, it is really, really bad. Do not watch it. Play parcheesi. I don't even know what parcheesi is, but it has to be better than Ghost Dad.
