1999 Movies Closeout Extravaganza!

1999 LL Cool J Survives
Last year, I decided to watch as many 1999 films as possible for the 25th anniversary of my favorite year in history. At a certain point, I decided to create a post that included an archive of mini-reviews for every film I had seen from 1999...and at a certain point I decided that this post should be an archive of EVERY movie that was ever released in 1999...meaning that eventually I'd need to watch all of them. Well, I may not have seen all of them yet, and while I will make that a lifetime goal, I have come to the realization that I may never see every 1999 film. There are...a lot of them, and I just received a bitter reminder of my mortality a couple of months ago. However, I have now seen the majority of 1999's films, and certainly the majority of the ones of note. Thus, I am officially bringing this project to a close. Sort of. I'll still add movies if and when I see any of the few 1999 films I've missed. However, as an active project, this is done. Here is a link to the essentially finished archive:

And now, it's time to have a little fun! I think the Oscars suck! I boycott them every year, and if I do see the results, it seems like they always get them wrong. I looked up the results for the 1999 Oscars, and HOLY COW did they get them wrong!!! So wrong, I feel like, just for fun, I should redo the 72nd Academy Awards, originally aired on March 26, 2000, right here and right now (for most of the full-length feature film categories). They even got the nominees wrong, so I'll redo that for them, as well! I'll even put them in alphabetical order. And keep in mind, the winners aren't my favorites in each category--they are what I legitimately think are the best. Let's do this!

And...I'm tired of doing this...I don't feel like doing best costumes and all that stuff. Awards are subjective and stupid popularity contests, anyway. With that said, The Matrix should have won big at the Oscars, Haley Joel Osment should have easily won Best Supporting Actor instead of Michael Caine, and American Beauty and The Cider House Rules shouldn't have won anything. The end.

If you'd like to see a ranked list of every 1999 film I've seen, in favorite order, where, shockingly, The Matrix is not number one, click the link below.

Thanks for following this project. It took up, quite literally, hundreds of hours of my life. It was one of the most rewarding and enjoyable projects I've yet undertaken for The Nicsperiment. Here's to another year one day that will be as great as 1999!
