Starflyer 59 -- IAMACEO

7/10

You see what I mean? Here's another Starflyer 59 album, three years after the last one, that sounds just like the last one. Low stakes indie rock. All the songs are about three minutes long, nothing out of the ordinary, nothing wrong. It's pleasant enough, and that's all. This guy used to layer 40 guitars on top of one another, then he got tired of that and made insanely layered pop music, then collaborative rock music with other geniuses, and now he's just putting out adequate indie rock. Starflyer 59's sound, regardless of genre, used to be so singular. This could be anybody. Sigh...

I know this is an old post, but are we listening to the same album? How could this be anybody? It's not their best album, of course, but I think it's far from being unrecognizable between other albums. Maybe Jason's way of singing is very rooted in my mind, idk. Anyways, I think 7/10 is accurate, I'd maybe say 7.5/10, but that's my opinion.
I meant that music sounds like it could be anybody. Obviously, if you add Jason’s voice in anywhere, it sounds like Starflyer. I should have been clearer. It’s definitely not terrible, though. Glad we came to the same score conclusion.
